e.Republic - GTtv productions 2007-2010
Bryant University and Cisco IPICS - A Case Study
A Custom Media production for Cisco by GTtv / e.Republic in 2010. T.S. "Zak" Brown was senior producer, camera operator (for studio, green screen and remote shooting), script editor, video editor, graphic designer, animator, compositor, teleprompter operator, cinematographer (lighting and visual composition), music coordinator, sound mixer and grip. The project had a writer assigned from Government Technology Magazine, who also served as interviewer, and a line producer to handle travel (Rhode Island) and interview scheduling. Voice talent was day-hired to narrate.
Hardware: 1 Canon XHA1 High Definition Digital camcorder, 2 Canon HV 30 HDs, Bogen tripods with Manfrotto 501 fluid heads, Glidecam Stabilizer, compact fluorescent lighting, Sennheiser G3 wireless microphones, Macbook Pro 17, Pelican 1650 cases.
Software: Final Cut, Motion, Photoshop, Sound Soap, After Effects, Compressor, QuicTime Pro 7, Cisco VPN, Various browsers, Delve Networks, Garage Band.
Cisco's guidance was minimal: promote IPICS. They provided a list of the principal users of the system in the area of the school. Phone interviews let us select the more articulate terminals and identify the hypothesis to prove: “Can public/private collaboration work?” Related questions such as “Who benefits?” and “Was implementation difficult” provided the storyline. Field digitizing and transcription assisted the editing process and we were able to rough cut before returning to CA.
